To balance out the metaphysics of the Antipop post (below), I offer up a quick burst of sugar smacks from Pete & The Pirates. It’s a new single released this year, and other than having been mastered way too loud (a disturbing trend that can only self-destruct before too long; I mean, how much further past 11 can we go before a wave becomes a straight line????) I can’t really pick any bones out of this one when it comes to pure pop. Pete & The Pirates, I’m given to understand, can proudly boast the worst record review Vice Magazine have ever given out. My advice: don’t listen to Vice.
